Meet the Staff

Dr. Ashley Lamm David grew up in San Angelo and graduated from Central High School. She completed her bachelor's degree in biology and chemistry from The University of Texas at Austin with university honors and then graduated with honors from The University of Houston College of Optometry. She then came back home to San Angelo in 2007 to practice alongside her dad in the practice that he established here in 1983.  Dr. David went on to purchase his practice and built a larger clinic in 2019 to better serve San Angelo and the surrounding area. Dr. David is a board certified therapeutic optometrist and ocular glaucoma specialist. She completed internship rotations in ocular disease, glaucoma, neurology, pediatrics, specialty contact lens, general optometry and retinal disease. She is currently on the board of directors for the West Texas Rehabilitation Center, president of The Rolling Plains Optometric Society and an active member of The Texas Optometric Association and The American Optometric Association. Dr. David loves serving her home town is also a mother to two boys, Owen and Gavin.

Dr. Whitney Hejny grew up in St. Lawrence, Tx and graduated from Garden City High School. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Angelo State University and then went on to graduate from the University of Houston College of Optometry, both with academic honors. Dr. Hejny is a board certified therapeutic optometrist and ocular glaucoma specialist and has training in pediatrics, contact lenses, co-managing refractive and cataract surgery, and the diagnosis and treatment of ocular pathology. She is passionate about providing her patients with the most thorough eye care and addressing all of their vision and eye concerns. Dr. Hejny is a member of the Texas Optometric Association and American Optometric Association; locally she enjoys doing community volunteer work with the Junior League of San Angelo. She loves spending time with her family especially her husband and her three children, Cooper, Holt and Tyce.

Dr. Joe Kirgis grew up in San Angelo and graduated from Miles High School. He graduated with honors from Texas A&M University before graduating summa cum laude from the University of Houston College of Optometry. He and his wife spent a few years living in New Hampshire before returning to their hometown. He is trained in the management of ocular disease, glaucoma, specialty contact lenses, retinal disease, pediatrics, and general optometry. In the clinic, Dr. Kirgis strives to build meaningful relationships with his patients in order to provide the best possible eye care. Outside of the clinic, he enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife, Shelby, and daughter, Maggie.
